Tally Top Pet 2016
An excerpt from the Tallahassee Democrat – 02/01/2016 – C01
Tally Top Pet contest set to kick off in March and will benefit Be The Solution.
Do you have the cutest cat, most darling dog, handsomest horse or most gorgeous gerbil? It’s time to show them off by entering the Tally Top Pet Photo Contest for 2016. Not only will you win bragging rights, but also your pet will get a place in the Springtime Tallahassee Parade and you will be helping Be The Solution fight pet homelessness by supporting spay and neuter efforts. We’ll be conducing our own Ledford family contest to see who will represent us: Molly, Maggie, Lily, Punky Pooh or our foster kitty Bobbi Bear. It’s time to pull out all the cuteness moves, guys.
The contest will run from March 5 through March 19 at 6 p.m. And there’s a big change this year that Gerry Phipps, BTS president and executive director, is very excited about. “This year voting will be free!” Phipps said. “We will have a new website loaded with great information about spay and neuter. We want everyone to visit and share it on social media. Our bottom line is getting the message out about the importance of spaying and neutering pets.” You can register as many pets as you want to but voting will be limited to one vote a day per computer.
It all kicks off with an afternoon of fun March 5 at Saint Paul’s United Methodist Church at Lake Ella from noon to 4 p.m.
You can register for the Tally Top Pet photo contest and enjoy a day of family friendly activities.
Professional photographers will take free pet pictures and volunteers will be on hand to assist with registering participants for the contest.
It costs $10.00 per pet to register.
There will be a children’s area with bounce houses and face-painting, pet-related vendors, a pet agility course, Sonny’s BBQ, a special Blessing of the Animals service conducted by Saint Paul’s UMC and more.
For information about sponsoring Tally Top Pet or becoming a vendor at the March 5 kickoff, please contact Sonya White at Tally-TopPetEvent@gmail.com.
Winners of each category win prizes, and the pet with the most votes overall is named the 2016 Tallahassee Top Pet, and the honor to ride on the BTS Springtime Tallahassee parade float. (Winner may choose to display the pet’s picture instead of riding if desired.) To learn more about the categories and prizes, visitwww.TallyTopPet.com.
All proceeds benefit Be The Solution, Inc. Spay/Neuter Assistance Program, which has “fixed” over 15,000 local pets since 2007. Visit www.bethesolution.us for more information about spay and neuter assistance.
